
WHAT IS THE OPEN?
- The CrossFit Open is an annual worldwide competition that runs for three weeks, kicking off on February 26th. It’s all about participation, fun, and pushing your personal best—no matter your fitness level!
- Each week, a new Open workout drops on Thursday afternoon (think 26.1 for week 1 of 2026, 26.2 for week 2, and so on). You’ve got until Monday evening to complete it with a judge at CFA (anyone else registered for the Open counts as a judge). Not registered? No worries—you can still do it without a formal judge.
- There are scaled divisions for every skill level, just like our regular CFA classes, so there’s an option that fits you perfectly.
- If your friends do CrossFit anywhere in the world, they’ll be tackling the exact same workouts—how cool is that?
- A few quick notes on our schedule:
- We DO NOT run the Open workout as the programmed class WOD on Fridays (Feb 27, Mar 6, Mar 13). Nick will program a regular class workout those days for anyone opting out—no judgment at all! We want you doing what aligns with your goals.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
For those three Fridays, we swap evening classes for Friday Night Lights at CFA—a total party vibe! We run heats of the workout until everyone who wants to finish has gone. This is a highlight for so many CFA members: electric energy, cheers, and community like no other.
HOW TO SIGN UP
After the workout announcement Thursday afternoon, we’ll drop a Google Sheet for heat sign-ups. Heat times (like 4pm, 4:30pm, 5pm, etc.) depend on the workout, and we’ll keep adding heats until everyone’s done.
WILL CFA HAVE “OPEN PREP”?
- Yes—our upcoming Engine Building performance cycle is your Open prep! This 8-week block is designed to boost your engine and fitness capacity, whether you’re going all-in competitively or just want to level up.
- It wraps right into the three weeks of the Open, giving you a perfect chance to test your gains on the actual workouts if you choose.
- Many of us use this time to tighten up sleep, nutrition, and recovery for peak performance—it’s a mindset that benefits every athlete, beginner to advanced. Since we hit a wide range of movements, skills, and intensities year-round, rest assured: you’ve been prepped for this. If you’re wondering “Can I do it?”—the answer is a resounding YES!
